There’s nothing more frustrating than finishing off your makeup with lashings of mascara, then slipping and getting mascara on your cheek. You’ve now got a situation where you want to get the smudge off, but you don’t want to ruin your base makeup underneath!
The solution? – Wait for the mascara to dry and use a cotton bud to remove it. Simply swirl the cotton bud on the black mark, and it will come right off, without taking off your base! Apply translucent powder around your eyes to help set your foundation/concealer, and prevent further smudges. My favourite mascara is this one from Maybelline – it’s the Lash Sensational one, and it gives the most dramatic lashes I’ve ever had.
Usually, the reason your mascara is clumpy is because it’s drying out, and it needs throwing away! Mascaras tend to get that way during the end of their run.
The solution? – To help it last a little longer, warm the tube up gently with your hairdryer and you will get some more life out of it.
If you’ve already applied; use a clean disposable mascara wand to apply moisturiser to your lashes. The oil in the cream will help to loosen up your lashes and more evenly distribute the mascara.
This happens all the time to me! I don’t always sit in the best light, and when I go to the window to check my makeup before I leave the house I sometimes have waaay too much blush on! This can make you look like a clown, and it’s not a good look. Blush is supposed to give you a slight, healthy flush, not the face of someone who’s just run ten miles!
The solution? – Use a large, fluffy powder brush and blend the blush out with translucent powder until it’s softened down! The NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder does the job perfectly – buy here.
We all get dry, flaking lips from time to time. The weather, the heating in our homes, and our lack of hydration can all cause it.
The solution? – Make a lip scrub, using olive oil and sea salt. Dry your lips with a towel, and gently buff them as you do so. Afterwards, coat your lips in a thick, nourishing lip balm. I use this amazing one from Burt’s Bees. It’s their Ultra Conditioning one, and it works like a dream at softening and soothing your lips!
When you accidentally apply too much product, it can be really annoying, especially when you’ve just washed it! It can make hair look greasy and lank, and ruins the look of your fresh new blow dry.
I use this amazing one from Toni&Guy called Instant Refresh.
The solution? – You can use dry shampoo on product-grease just the same as you can on normal grease! Apply on the area where you have put too much product, and massage it in like normal.
Putting your hair in a flattering up do can be really useful, especially when you’re working, or at the gym, and you want your hair out of your face. However, those little fluffy ‘baby’ hairs that stick up can ruin the look.
The solution? – Use one of the disposable mascara wands, spray it with a little hairspray, and use it to smooth down the flyaway hairs.
When you get a tan, it’s usually when you’ve been out and about all day. You end up with tan lines, mostly on your shoulders where your top has been. This can leave you with patchy stripes that don’t give the impression you were hoping for!
The solution? – Use fake tanner to fill in the gaps!
This can happen for a number of reasons, but is most commonly caused by wearing dark nail polishes. It can be unsightly.
The solution? – Make a paste of baking soda and lemon juice, and get a nail brush. Scrub your nails using the paste and then rinse. It makes a massive difference to the appearance of your hands!
When getting dressed after applying your deodorant, you sometimes end up with those dreaded white marks on your top. It can mean that you pull the top off and chuck it straight in the wash.
The solution? – No need to put the top in the wash. Simply use a baby wipe and dab at the marks. In my experience, they come straight off! [And it saves you having to do more washing, which is always a bonus…]
