Bullet journals are absolutely ideal for organising, prioritising, planning, and expressing your creativity. They are immensely useful, and there are many ways in which you can use them. Mostly, they are created by you, to plan your months, weeks, and days. There’s no limits like in a traditional journal; it all comes from you.
This means you can decide what things are useful for you to follow and track. If something isn’t relevant for your life, then simply leave it out. If you want more help on this, see my post to get you started – How To Start A Bullet Journal: My Tips and Hacks To Getting It Right First Time!
Collections are the pages in your bullet journal between your monthly and weekly planners. They are things you write about because you have something you want to remember, track, and focus on. These can be fun things, serious things, or important things. It’s entirely up to you, and you can have a lot of fun with them!
There are thousands of different options out there. I will share with you some inspiration from what I write in my own bullet journal, which I hope you will find useful!
(If you need any ideas or tips on setting up your weekly pages – read this post here Bullet Journaling – Weekly Spread Setup Guide!)
Useful collections are pages that provide some type of service to you, that wouldn’t go in a normal weekly or monthly planner. Some great examples are:
These are great, especially if you’ve set yourself some goals, and you want an easy visual of how you are doing with them. If your aim is to drink more water, you can draw glasses or bottles for each day and colour them in as you go. Or if you want to do more exercise, then you can draw stick people with weights on the days you do a work out.
It can make life much easier if you are planning your meals for the week, as it takes the stress and indecision away. Also, if you are trying to eat healthier, it is useful to plan so that you don’t stray. You can even run a grocery list down the side to make sure you’ve got everything you need in advance.
These are especially handy for dates that are weeks or months in advance. Just jot them down in a list, and add them to your weekly or monthly planners as you do them. It stops you forgetting anything!
I have this list in every bullet journal. It’s so helpful and makes sure I actually prioritize the things I need rather than just buying the things I want!
If you have something specific you are trying to save for, having a visual prompt can give you a lot of motivation. You can do it in various ways; for mine I draw a jar shape, divide it in layers for each month, and then colour in when I put the money away.
Sometimes you get that spark of inspiration whilst you are out and about. If you use sticky notes or scraps of paper, then you know how annoying it is when you lose it, and you can’t remember the details. Having the page in your journal means you can just add it to the list straight away, and you’ll never forget it!
There are so many collections that you can use to make life easier, and help you organise. Let me know in the comments below if you have any more that I need to know about 🙂
Using your bullet journal should also be fun! They’re a great way to express your creativity, and you don’t need to be especially artistic to make them beautiful!
I write a lot of collections purely for the enjoyment. Sometimes I just get the urge to write, and so I just go for it. These are some of my favourite ones from my own bullet journal.
If you come across outfit ideas, and you don’t want to forget them, then jot them down! When I’m out and about, I’m always checking out woman’s fashion for inspiration. Woman wear some beautiful outfits, and there’s nothing wrong with adding their ideas to your own individual style.
I try to have projects that I am working on, in the background of my day-to-day work, and my website. I use my project pages to plan, write down my progress, add to-dos, and review it as I go. It helps keep the momentum of what I’m doing!
This is a good one for me. I hear lots of words on a daily basis that I don’t always know the meaning of, or I simply like it! When I do, I write it down, and google the meaning of any I’m unsure of. It’s a great way to learn new things, and I can then use them in conversation, certain that I know what I’m talking about!
If you’re feeling a little down, then having a look at this page can really help refocus you, and make you feel happy with your lot. I write down anything, no matter how small, that I am looking forward to, and it puts things into perspective. Being positive about the future is the best thing you can do for yourself!
There are so many different options for collections. Let me know any that you use! 🙂 ♥
