5 Amazing Ways To Grow Your Online Business

Top Tips That Help You Grow Your Online Business + Make Money From Your Blog

Making money online and starting an online business can be very daunting. I regularly talk to people about my blog and they have no idea how I use it to make money! They think I’m wasting my time.

When you talk about blogging, a lot of people assume that you basically write an online journal, and ask who even reads it. It can be quite insulting, and they don’t realise how much time, effort and creativity go into it!

Running an online business can be an amazing way to earn extra money, and can even become your career.

In this post, we’re going to talk about 5 top tips I have for growing your online business, and taking things to the next level.

In this post, I show you 5 amazing ways to grow your online business! I share you with you my top tips and things to remember when it comes to carving out a career online as an entrepreneur. It's not always easy, but it is possible!

1. Treat It Like A Business

The first, most important step is actually treating your website like a business. If you’re just treating it as a hobby, then it’s likely to stay that way!

By taking it seriously, creating a plan, and finding strategies to make it happen, you’ll be giving yourself the chance to make it a business.

You need to take the time to plan out exactly what you want from your online business and then work on the different things you need to do to make things happen.

Start off with the basics, and make sure you get that right! Grow your community, work on your blog design, and think about how you can best serve your customers.

Take time to research things and take notes on everything you learn along the way. A great course to take is Chelsea Clark from HerPaperRoute’s course Blog Boss. Chelsea knows her stuff – she’s been a blogger and digital marketer for over 10 years, and teaches us all how to earn money from our websites!

By doing all of the above, you’ll start to see the changes in your online business, and things will begin to move in the direction you want them to.

2. Work On Fine-Tuning Your Purpose

When it comes to creating a successful online business, it’s really important to focus and hone in on the reason why you’re doing what you’re doing.

What made you start your online biz in the first place?
Why do you love doing your work?

It’s important that you really dig deep into the reason that you’re doing this. Finding out the big, honest, deep down reasons that you want to create an online business will be fundamental in getting you there.

When things are hard-going or you’re struggling to knuckle down, you can go back to those reasons and they’ll help centre you and give you that clarity back.

I first started my journey in the blogosphere by writing a lifestyle kind of blog, but it wasn’t quite what I wanted to do when I realised how much I loved blogging.

Changing my focus, and realising that I had a passion to teach that had been there since I was a child, and combining it with my love of writing, the All In My Head you’re reading right now was born!

I knew what I wanted to do and exactly WHY I wanted to do it. I grew to love my blog and business, and that’s when things started to change for me.

3. Take Some Serious Action

To create a successful online business, you have to put yourself out there!

Take those big leaps and do the things that scare you. Those are the things that will change the face of your business.

Write a list of all the things you really want from your business, as crazy and impossible as you can dream of.

Think about what you really want from your business, and what you want it to bring you. Do you want to work less? Be able to travel? Stay at home with your family? Also think about the specific things such as the milestones you want to reach, the type of work you want to do, and how you want to progress.

The more you aim for, the more you’re likely to achieve.

I always think of it this way:

If people out there in the world can become crazy successful entrepreneurs then why can't I? There's nothing stopping me from becoming exactly what I want to be! Click To Tweet

Always aim high, and never let set backs stop you from going after what you really want. If you have the dream, the determination and the resilience, then you can achieve what ever you set your mind on.

4. Grow Your Community

The more you work on growing a community of people who love what you do, the easier it will be to make money from your online pursuits.

Get to know your dream customer, and really spend your time focusing on them.

How can you entice them to interact with your brand? How can you make sure they know who you are and what you stand for?

Getting involved on social media is the best way to showcase who you are, communicate with your readers, and build that like and trust that makes selling so much easier.

Using your email list and keeping in regular contact with your subscribers will help you grow your community, as the people on your list have already shown their interest.

Email marketing is extremely important, and you should definitely focus on building your email list via your website. These people are much more likely to become your customers!

5. Stay Motivated About Your Online Biz!

The final thing to keep in mind about your online business is that you need to stay motivated. When it comes to working from home, it can be difficult to keep your mind in the right place.

There are lots of different things that you can do to help keep yourself motivated, and focusing on the right thing.

Here’s my top tips:

  • Set yourself work hours and stick to them! It’s important to keep a routine, work when you’re supposed to be working, and then leave it when you’re supposed to be relaxing/with your family/going out. By keeping that balance, you’ll be able to focus on the tasks you’re supposed to be doing, and also enjoy your down time away from work.
  • Create a blogging work space. The environment you’re in can have a massive impact on how motivated and productive you feel. Having somewhere that’s dedicated to your blog and business is a great feeling, and will give you even more zen when it comes to your work.
  • Focus on the things that are going right! In the blogging community, it can be easy to get swept away thinking about the things that are going wrong. You end up in a downwards spiral of feeling that things aren’t working and it’s time to give up. I say never give up! No matter what, you’ve created your website and your business because it’s something you’re passionate and excited about. Instead, focus on the things that are doing really well within your business. Keep track of your stats and watch as things improve each week and each month.
  • Make a step in the right direction every day. Working on your blog and business every single day is easy! There’s always something to be done. Do something each and every day that helps towards your end game, and you will see the results.

Motivation and productivity is easier said than done sometimes, but the more you focus on the end results and the reasons why you’re doing this, the easier it becomes.

It’s also about building healthy habits around your blog and business. Realising that this is your passion, your dream, and that it’s 100% possible will help drive you forward every single day.

Grow Your Online Business + Reach Your Blog Goals

The above 5 steps are a great starting point when it comes to an online career. Of course, there are so many things that go into creating a successful online business.

There’s so much learning to be done, and you will find yourself constantly trying to keep up with the latest thing.

You’ll stress that you’re missing things, and you’re not making the most money out there.

There will be income reports out there that make you want to switch off your laptop and never blog again.

The road is long and you might feel like you’re spinning your wheels. I want to make you realise that this is when the magic happens most of the time. It means you’re challenging yourself and taking things further than you thought.

If you’re struggling with overwhelm, and feel like you could be doing more, then I want you to have a look at my ebook Blog To Business: Creating A Blog Primed For Success.
